Tall Buildings Session no ACI Spring 2010 com Eng. Mário Franco - JKMF Bookmark and Share PDF Imprimir E-mail

Many of the recently constructed tall buildings are constructed of concrete, including the world's tallest in Dubai.  The International Session on Tall Buildings, to be held Wednesday, March 24th from 9 am to 12 pm, will highlight how advances in concrete material and construction technology have led to concrete buildings of unprecedented height. Presentations and speakers are as follows:
  • Tall and Innovative: New Ambitions for Concrete Tall Buildings
    Presented by: David Scott, ARUP
     
  • Some Recent Tall Concrete Buildings in Brazil
    Presented by: Mario Franco, JKMF
  • Super-tall Residential Towers
    Presented by: William Baker, Skidmore Owings & Merrill 
  • Extrapolating Code Provisions: The Realities of Tall Building Design and Construction
    Presented by: Ronald Klemencic, Magnusson Klemencic Associates 
  • Tall Concrete Buildings (Constanera Center) in Chile and Their Seismic Performance During the February 2010 Chilean Earthquake
    Presented by: Rene Lagos, Rene Lagos y Associates LTD
     

Following the session, Vincent Mages, Vice President of Climate Change Initiatives for Lafarge Cement will highlight the cement industry global initiatives to reduce CO2, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development's (WBCSD) Cement Sustainability Initiative, and the role of cement and concrete in sustainable construction during the International Lunch (3/24/10, 12pm-2pm). Tickets may be purchased on site at ACI Registration located in the River Exhibit Hall at the Sheraton Chicago until 24 hours prior.
